ASNT 자격증 갱신기간 연장(코로나 때문에 덕 봤다?)

여러가지 자격증 협회도 코로나의 여파에서 온전하지는 않은 모습이다. 아마도 갱신이라던지 여러가지 업무가 비대면으로 바뀌거나 업무가 중단되면서(미국) 그에 대한 약간의 보상이 연장의 모습으로 주어지는 형세이다. 

오늘 ASNT로 부터 메일을 받았다. 몇달동안 해당 활동이 안되서 자격증 마감 기한을 연장해주겠다는 형식의 이메일이다. 3달 정도 추가로 연장되는 것으로 보이는데 관련된 서류를 제출하면 연장을 해주는 식으로 보인다. 전문은 하기를 참조하기 바란다. 

The ongoing pandemic of COVID-19 continues to provide challenges for employers, customers, and NDT certified individuals. As a standards developer, ASNT understands the importance of codes and standards to meet contractual requirements. As with most standards developers, their standards typically do not address actions to take during an unprecedented global pandemic. ASNT is no different. For those involved in employer-based certification programs and in need of recertifying individuals or being recertified, the pandemic creates a challenge. How does an individual obtain re-certification during a lockdown, where services are not available? These are the types of inquiries that ASNT is receiving related to SNT-TC-1A and ANSI/ASNT CP-189 employer-based certification programs. While ASNT cannot overrule customer / contractual requirements to indicate the extending of employer-based certifications is acceptable, ASNT is positioned to provide guidance and recommendations for those responsible or affected by employer-based programs. This includes the employer, customer, NDT certified individuals, ASNT/ACCP cert holders, etc.

For individuals, whose certification has expired after 13 March 2020:
ASNT recommends employer-based certifications be extended until 31 July 2020, providing that all other aspects associated with the Employers NDT written practice have been complied with for the individual in need of recertification.

The next re-certification expiration date shall be based on the original re-certification due date and not the extended date. See examples in the table below:

An employer choosing to extend the certifications must ensure the individuals' certification records include:

1. A copy of this notification.
2. A written statement approved by the Level III that the conditions for an extension as recommended by ASNT has been satisfied. 

The COVID-19 situation changes daily which ASNT continues to monitor. It is possible another notification of extension may be necessary. Such a decision will be made closer to 31 July 2020 due date and will be communicated accordingly. 

Again, it is stressed that ASNT is positioned to provide guidance and recommendations to ASNT certification holders responsible for employer-based programs, specifically SNT-TC-1A and ANSI/ASNT CP-189 based programs. This does not constitute an approval to deviate from a customer requirement or contract but provides clarification on ASNT's position. Any deviations or approvals must be agreed upon by the customer

한마디로 요약하자면, 2020년 3월 13일 이후에 만료되는 ASNT 자격을 가진 사람은 7월 31일로 Expire 기간이 자동으로 연장된다. 다만 연장되는 기간은 Recertification 기간에 반영이 안되면 표를 보면 알겠지만 원래가 3월 30일 만료인 경우 다음 연장기한은 2025년 7월이 아닌 2025년 3월 30일로 산정된다. 해당 사항은 2020년 3월 13일 이후이나 7월 31일전 까지 만료기간을 가진 사람을 대상으로 하는 구제책이다. 

해당하시는 분들은 아마 금년에 마감이라 점수를 거의 다 채워놓고 준비하셨을 것으로 보이는데 자격증이 갱신기간이 지나도록 ASNT에서 메일이 오지 않았다고 불안해하시지 않아도 될 것 같다. 7월까지는 서류만 보내면 일단 일정이니까.
